Generic Principen (Ampicillin)
Ampicillin belongs to a class of medicines called penicillin antibiotics, which are used to treat sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea as well as bacterial infections of the kidneys, stomach, lungs, and skin. When pathogenic bacteria enter the body, they grow and lead to an infection. This is known as a bacterial infection. It spreads swiftly and can infect any area of the body.
Principen Information :
Uses :
Numerous bacterial infections can be treated with ampicillin. This antibiotic is similar to penicillin. It functions by halting the development of bacteria. This antibiotic only addresses infections caused by bacteria. Viral infections (like the flu and the common cold) will not be treated by it. Any antibiotic that is taken more often than necessary may become ineffective against subsequent infections.
As prescribed by your physician, take this medication orally four times a day, or every six hours. Take ampicillin with a full glass of water, either one hour before or two hours after a meal, and on an empty stomach. When taking this medication, stay hydrated—unless your doctor instructs you otherwise.
The dosage is determined by your health status and how well you respond to treatment. Take this antibiotic at evenly spaced intervals for optimal results. Take this medication at the same time(s) each day to aid in memory. Even if symptoms go away in a few days, keep taking this medication until the entire prescribed amount is finished. If you stop taking the medication too soon, the infection might come back.
Precautions & Warnings :
If you experience any hypersensitivity reactions, intense stomach pain, pale skin, or shortness of breath after taking ampicillin, notify your doctor right away. Inform your physician if you have ever experienced diabetes, asthma, kidney disease, or diarrhea brought on by antibiotics. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives or tablets. Certain medical test results may change when ampicillin is used.
