Trimox Information :
Uses :
Amoxicillin is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. This drug is an antibiotic in the class of penicillin. It functions by preventing bacterial growth.Only bacterial infections are treated with this antibiotic. Viral infections (like the flu or the common cold) will not be treated by it. Any antibiotic that is used more than necessary may become ineffective against subsequent infections. In addition to treating stomach and intestinal ulcers brought on by the H. pylori bacteria, amoxicillin is also used in conjunction with other drugs to stop the ulcers from coming back.
Amoxicillin comes in dosage forms such as syrup, capsules, and oral tablets. Per your doctor’s advice, you should take Amoxicillin syrup. Amoxicillin tablets or capsules should be taken whole, along with a glass of water. Never chew, crush, or break it. While certain conditions may require more time, most bacterial infections can be treated in a week or less. Thus, it would be ideal if you made an effort to take the entire recommended dosage.
Precautions & Warnings :
Patients taking amoxicillin may experience severe allergic reactions, such as elevated itchy skin rashes, coughing, wheezing, and tightness in the chest. Amoxicillin use may occasionally result in diarrhea brought on by antibiotics. Amoxicillin may interact negatively with penicillin antibiotics, blood thinners (warfarin, coumadin), uric acid-lowering medications (allopurinol, probenecid), and anti-cancer or anti-arthritis medications (methotrexate). Before taking Amoxicillin, let your doctor know if you have viral glandular fever (mononucleosis) or chronic kidney disease. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives or tablets. Amoxicillin consumption may affect the results of some glucose urine tests, such as the copper reduction test.
