Lisinopril relaxes and widens blood vessels, the heart has an easier time pumping blood to every part of the body. This reduces the chance of a heart attack or stroke as well as blood pressure. Without having an orthostatic effect, lisinopril lowers blood pressure both while standing and while lying down (a sudden decrease in blood pressure might occur when a person stands up suddenly).
